Manley Pinotage 2018
Description
100% Pinotage
VINTAGE
2018 was one of the smallest harvests South Africa had in more than a decade, which was really tough for the wine industry. This lesser harvest was due to the intense drought that the Western Cape had experienced in that time, and some of the long-standing farmers in the area believed that it was one of the worst droughts within 100 years. One will find farmers saying that it was a healthy year with regards to wine grapes, due to the decreased amount of rain and less viruses and pests.
CHARACTER PROFILE
This Pinotage displays pleasant ripe aromas of strawberries and peach, as well as a typical distinct jammy character that one can easily pick up on the palate.
WINEMAKER'S NOTES
The wine was aged for two years in French oak barrels and has undergone malolactic fermentation. The berries were picked at a ripe stage, contributing to the wide-ranging aroma wheel and prominent jammy character. The wine is structured well with tannins that are soft but still alluring. The ageing capability of this wine is seven to ten years.
