Manley Shiraz 2018
Description
100% Shiraz
VINTAGE
2018 was one of the smallest harvests South Africa had in more than a decade, which was really tough for the wine industry. This lesser harvest was due to the intense drought that the Western Cape had experienced in that time, and some of the long-standing farmers in the area believed that it was one of the worst droughts within 100 years. One will find farmers saying that it was a healthy year with regards to wine grapes, due to the decreased amount of rain and less viruses and pests.
CHARACTER PROFILE
This Shiraz shows strong aroma characteristics of mocha, dark chocolate and blackberry that elegantly follow through on the palate, providing a well-balanced, sophisticated wine with a very subtle hint of spice on the nose.
WINEMAKER'S NOTES
The Shiraz has been aged in French oak for two years and has undergone the process of malolactic fermentation, adding to an indulgent and elegant red wine. The palate is well-rounded with a soft and velvety tannin structure. The ageing capability of this wine is eight to twelve years.
