This is a family dream that started to materialize in 2009. My wife and I are both winemakers
and it was time to create a wine that reflected our life in wine.
Agaat was born and with that a tribute to dearly loved family.
Our mission is to produce “one of a kind blends” that brings the different elements of varietals
together. This gives us the opportunity to select the best of what the Cape wine lands can
produce each vintage and so create wines that is interesting and enjoyable.
Between the two of us we have 26 years experience in the wine industry, being involved in
vineyard management, boutique winemaking, wine quality assurance, volume driven
winemaking, marketing, environmental and social development as well as begin owners of
prestige’s wine accolades which includes, SA young wine show - wine of the year, Top 10
Pinotage and numerous Veritas gold and double gold medals.
Truter Family Wines has recently got involved with a local Primary Farm School in our
community by donating stationary to the foundation phase classes (Grade 0, Grade R and
Grade 1). We hope to make a difference these children’s lives with this contribution – they
have already touched our lives with their appreciation!
We are also very proud to be part of a industry first – the IPW scheme, with this certified seal
we can assure Agaat consumers that our wines have been produced in an environmentally
responsible manner.
A certification seal appears on each container of wine has been certified by the Wine and
Spirit Board. This seal is a guarantee of origin, vintage and variety as stated on the wine label.
It is also a guarantee that the wine complies with IPW criteria.
