Somek Carignan 2015

100% Carignan

Somek’s vineyards are planted in the footsteps of Zichron – Yaacov (Carmel Mountains) and are continually cultivated in the family since 1882. Carignan 2015 is composed of 100% Carignan grapes. The Carignan vines are 50 + years old.

The wine was aged for 2 years in French oak barrels, one-third of which are new and another 2 years in the bottles before release. The colour is purplish scarlet with an aroma of deep dark fruit such as plum, black cherry, coconut, vanilla, caramal and cocoa.

The palate is rich with soft astringency and acidity. It has a fascinating and long finish as well as after taste.

Food pairing: it is perfect with rich and spiced dishes like grilled meat or game meat.

Aging period - between 7-9 years.

Optimal drinking temperature: 18°C-20°C
